I’m a buyer but not much of a returner. I don’t like the long line and I dread the evil eye from the clerk. They start with the questions, is it broken? What didn’t you like about it? It makes me uncomfortable and I avoid it at all costs. My mom was frustrated when she and my dad went to return some long underwear. The clerk kept asking why they were returning it. Mom continued to explain that my dad felt they didn’t fit right. The clerk couldn’t understand and continued to ask if they were damaged and so forth. Finally my dad was frustrated and in my mom’s words “yelled across the entire store”, “they don’t have fly which is really inconvenient and I’m not wearing long handles without a fly.” My mom wanted to crawl under the counter and was mad at him for a week. She said there was no need for an outburst like that.
Some things need to be returned but our focus should be on the right investments. I’m a buyer a dreamer an investor. The devil is constantly bidding on our soul to buy destruction. We should be buying construction. Sometimes we are aware. Sometimes oblivious.
God wants us investing in what we should be buying for His glory.
““It’s also like a man going off on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third one thousand, depending on their abilities. Then he left. Right off, the first servant went to work and doubled his master’s investment. The second did the same. But the man with the single thousand dug a hole and carefully buried his master’s money.
“After a long absence, the master of those three servants came back and settled up with them. The one given five thousand dollars showed him how he had doubled his investment. His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’
“The servant with the two thousand showed how he also had doubled his master’s investment. His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’
“The servant given one thousand said, ‘Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.’
“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest.
“‘Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.’”
This isn’t just about money. It’s about souls too. We need to have a purchasing mentality. Investing for Christ and pay attention to what you are selling. The Bible says we wrestle not for flesh and blood but for principalities and rulers of darkness. The devil runs around like a roaring lion. He is always looking for a good buy, things of little value go for cheap.
He’s waiting to see what we are willing to sell.
Happiness, Joy, Peace, Family
Everything has its price they say. What we put into ourselves ahead of time dictates value. The spiritual realm of our lives is like at the auction. One side of the room, God’s angels are making purchases to help us and the other Satan had demons making purchases for destruction. This is kind of like buying into a good breeding program or slaughter.
If we have a bad day at work the boss yelled at me, missed my lunch break, we walk into the arena and the auctioneer shouts, “here’s for the rights to tonight”
And the bidding starts
Are the Demons bidding tonight or the angels? Are you going to get over it and have happiness or is tonight headed to the dumpster? Who are you buyers going to be? What value do you bring to the table?
And the bidding continues 100.....
You invested in the good stuff. You bought into the most high. Ahead of time, you give to the church, you help when others who are in need, you are a shoulder to lean on, you help pick up others when they are falling, you don’t just know of Christ you know Him. You worship, pray, get to church and constantly find ways to invest in His kingdom.
The bidding goes on 75,000
You see the competition. The demons want to ruin your night. Are you going to sit back and say nothing? The itch inside won’t hold back. You shout out the biggest investment of all, I am born with the blood of Jesus, Satan has no right to ruin my night. In from the back pushing his way through the crowd like the football player who can’t be held back is the billionaire. He has nice clothes on, pretty nice boots and you know who he is. He never gets involved in the little stuff. He only makes big purchases.
There are people at the auction who need to get a number and there are those with a permanent number. This man says calmly but with a ground shaking authority $1 billion. The auctioneer responds $1 billion. The crowd is silent. Nobody moves. The auctioneer shouts, going once.
He made the investment in you. Now you have to perform.
We are not going to be cheap because we invest for the future. We invest for God.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
Philippians 1:6 KJV
God invested in you. Now invest for Him. I’m not the pastor for what I can get. I’m here because I feel a call from God to impart into you His best. I want to see lives changed, crime reduced, people full of peace, joy, contentment and more.
Ghandi isn’t by any means a bible scholar but he did say to be the change you want to see in the world. I’m confident you want that change. That’s why you are here. We aren’t in the middle of some pump and dump scheme. We are seeking ways to invest in others. Invest in the future. Grow the children. Shape the youth. Invest in your own purpose peace happiness.
And then change the world!
